When HFOC's founder and current proprietor, Scott Faso moved to Australia from the USA in 1998, he identified a gap in the market for a place to sell perfectly good high-end furniture that just didn’t suit the owner’s current residence.
The idea came from his own experiences, moving from a large house in LA to a terrace house in Sydney’s Paddington, then to a modern apartment, and then back to a terrace house. The furniture that was perfect for one space, was completely wrong for the other.
He sold some pieces at auction for practically nothing, and gave other pieces away. There were no other options available.
Consignment selling is common in California and has been a popular retail concept for over 30 years. Scott thought it would work perfectly in Australia and he was right.
In November 2002 he started with a 240 square meter warehouse space in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
The concept has been so well received that in July of 2006, the business expanded to a beautiful 850 square meter space in the growing furniture precinct of Alexandria. This space has been recently expanded again to over 1100 square meters with several different rooms giving the feeling of an emporium. This allows us to handle varying styles - modern, contemporary, classic, mid-century vintage, industrial etc.
HFOC is now known throughout the country as the only place to sell your quality pre-owned designer furniture.
